Evaluation Question 3

To collect audience feedback, I created a survey on survey monkey (Link to Survey ) and asked people to complete it after watching my trailer. This group of people mainly consisted of my target audience, but with a few others to see how the film did with people of other demographics.

To get people to complete my survey, I first asked people on a group chat of people who will be on my film production course next year at university. This had both its advantages and disadvantages. Something good that came out of it is that the criticisms they gave were advanced and they knew what they were talking about. However a down side is that they were watching my trailer as film students, and not a usual audience. another disadvantage is that the group chat is more male heavy, when my film is primarily meant to appeal to females. I did however manage to outweigh the gender split with females.

I ended up with 11 responses overall.

As you can see, and I mentioned before, More females filled in the survey than males, which works out in my favour as thats who the film would be targeted towards.

Having male people fill in my survey helps with my analysis as it will tell me whether it would be worth marketing the film towards a more 'gender neutral' audience, rather than to just target females.

Here you can see that only 15-24 year olds filled out my trailer. this is good because thats the age range I would market this film towards, however it would have been nice to get more of a mixed set of responses to compare how what aged people answered certain questions.

Out of all 11 responses, none of them were negative. Because the majority of the people who took this survey are in the target audience, this is good, because it shows that the people who are in out target audience enjoyed this trailer.

Again because the majority of the responses were of the films target audience, so to know that the minority of people said that they wouldn't buy tickets is pretty good. I would say that 'maybe' is the most popular answer because people generally don't go to the cinema anymore, and wait for it to come out on dvd, or for it to be released on streaming sites.

I am quite pleased that the average number is over 50% for this question. it means that the target audience seemed to enjoy the trailer enough to possibly recommend it to someone else.

This films genre is horror so i am very happy that the genre of the film came across in the trailer to the majority of people who responded to my survey. I can see why one person may have seen it as a teen drama as the main characters are teens, and it is in some ways a drama as well as a horror film.

As it seems that the majority of my target audience either chose 'sometimes' or 'rarely' in response to this question, I am happy that they have also reacted quite positively to the film trailer.

A clear majority of people felt as though the plot was represented enough in the trailer to grasp the idea and concept of the film. one person however ;picked 'maybe' as a response to this question, so maybe i could have worked slightly on the clarity of the plot in the film trailer.

One of the positive sides of having film students answering my survey is that the feedback on this question had been answered rather technically by those people and then more artistically by people who don't study film or any sort of media subject. One this i have learnt is that maybe I should've made it clear that the grain was supposed to be there to recreate a kind of 70's horror film kind of vibe. I also agree fully with the non-diegetic sound comment.

I am really pleased with the outcome of this start rating question. 7.77 is a number i am very proud of seeing as this is the first film project that I've worked on - besides lego stop-motions I made in my childhood.
