As the main characters of 'Seven Deadly Sisters" all represent a sin, i decided to do some research into the topic and find ways to help make it more obvious about who represents each of the sins.
Seven Deadly Sins
Our
film that we are making a trailer for is called “Seven Deadly Sisters”, which
is a play on words with the seven deadly sins. The film has seven main
characters who are sisters, and each of them represents one of the deadly sins.
Each sin is a characteristic that all naturally have. The sisters all show
their designated sin in a stronger light. The seven deadly sins and their
corresponding sister go as follows.
Pride
is excessive belief in one's own abilities that interferes with the individual's
recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all
others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity. In the film, this sin is portrayed
by ‘Murderous McKenna’. We have written the screenplay for the trailer to show
this by having the actress visually tally the amount of murders she’s committed
and use her facial expressions to show how highly she thinks of herself.
Envy
is the desire for others' traits, status, abilities, or situation. ‘Deadly
Dodie’ is the character in the trailer who we have decided to show this sin. We
have the actress witness something that she is clearly jealous off and then
literally kill it. We also are directing the actress to use her facial
expressions to show jealousy in most of her scenes, over the smallest things.
Gluttony
is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires. This sin
was the hardest to assign to a character, but in the end we went with “Pathetic
Penny”. We felt this would be a good fit because our film relies heavily on fitting
with stereotypes, and making them so cliche it makes stereotyping look stupid. Penny
is the clumsy character, and also called pathetic by her sisters, so we felt
that giving her the gluttony sin would add to the humour of this character. To
show this sin we plan to have her snacking in most shots of her.
Lust
is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body. This sin was the
easiest to designate to one of our characters. Before assigning any of the
other sins, we matched lust to “Shocker Shauna”. Shauna as a character seduces
men before making her attack so we knew this was the best fit. To make sure the
viewers know this, we have her dressed as if she’s going at for the night.
She’s wearing a dress in all her scenes, with her hair and make-up done, and is
often wearing heals.
Anger
is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury. It
is also known as Wrath. The character we chose to display this sin is “Gory
Gwen”. She is the eldest of the sisters and while she is a motherly figure to
many of them, she is very angry at everything that her father did to her and
her family.
Greed
is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual.
It is also called Avarice or Covetousness. This sin is portrayed by the
youngest of the sisters “Killer Kath”. Kath is treated as the baby of the group
but she somehow always gets what she wants. However there is something that her
sisters don’t give her, and that’s the feeling that she is one of them, despite
her being the youngest.
Sloth
is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work. This last sin we chose “Creepy
Caroline” to be as we decided it was a pretty good fit. Creepy Caroline is only
ever scene sitting in the corner in all scenes. Her body language will
emphasise her laziness and she only rarely contributes to conversation, and
even then, this will not be displayed in the trailer.
