How did you use media
technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Making a film takes a lot more than using a
camera and editing software. I have
demonstrated this by using so many different types of software to complete all
the aspects of the making of a film. I used prezi to aid me in analyzing horror
films. I found that prezi was very helpful when it came to organizing my ideas
in a way both I, and an audience could understand. As well as prezi I used
Microsoft PowerPoint in tasks such as comparing my film to others. Although it takes a bit longer and is a lot
more complicated than PowerPoint, I preferred using prezi because it was a lot
easier to show the order and flow of my ideas, as they do not form in a linear
fashion.
Word was used to write the films treatment
and we used ‘writer duet’ an online website which helps write screenplays with
the correct formatting. There is not much to say about Microsoft word. It does
the job and has no obvious flaws. I really liked using writer duet for the
screenplay because it meant we could make the screenplay quickly and also edit
it really easily. And we also didn’t have to worry about getting the font and
formatting correct.
One thing we found about having a film idea,
which required seven main characters, is that it is very difficult to find a
day that everyone could do for filming. This is where we found group chats and
excel spreadsheets very helpful. We made a group chat on Instagram and added
all our cast members. We gave out different dates until we found one or two
that everyone could attend as well as noting down on a spread sheet which people could do certain
dates. We used the spreadsheet to keep track of what scenes were shooting on
certain days, as well as what props we might need, and what locations we would
be shooting at.
When it came to editing our footage I used
premier pro. I really liked this software and liked how similar it was to some
industry standard editing software like ‘Avid’. It was really easy to pick up
on how to use premier pro to edit the footage. I also used audacity to put
different effects on the music I was using.
For the print media I used Photoshop. I
really like using Photoshop and was already very familiar with it already. I
enjoy the creative freedom you have with Photoshop. All you need to do is
search for a YouTube tutorial to find out how to do something that looks
professional.
To evaluate the film trailer I used survey
monkey to construct a survey on the film trailer. I really like how simple it
is to use survey monkey, and how easy it is to get people to answer the survey
with a provided link.
